Ian Burnham RIP

21 May 2020

It is with great regret that we have to inform you of the passing of Club stalwart Ian Burnham.

Ian who had lived virtually all of his 80 years in the village must have been amongst the most loyal and committed members ever of our Cricket Club or any others.

During his many decades, there was hardly a Club job or role that Ian had not fulfilled. He had been Secretary, Chairman, 1st and 2nd XI player; a Captain and a regular Umpire.  He was often found behind the bar and in the days before our modern pavilion he was running activities from the White Hart (effectively our HQ).

Ian had immense loyalty to the Club and engendered loyalty amongst members. He was always a man with massive respect for the traditions of cricket in general and Chobham in particular.

Even when he had handed over all his many responsibilities and interests, he remained one of the three Trustees.

For many years at Chobham CC he made an enormous contribution running the show and setting the standards.  When cricket starts again we shall miss him popping in.

Our condolences are with Susie and his family at this very sad time.
